Well well. What has been going on...
One thing definitely worth mentioning, is that you can now find me on Twitter, more precisely at http://twitter.com/lilylalala .
Yes, I do appreciate that the 'lalala' bit can be seen both as sing-song and as a sign of insanity, but frankly they are both just as adequate! So there you go.

I also have a couple of exciting little gigs coming up, most notably back at the Troubadour and another one with The Original Songwriters, so do come down!  All details on my MySpace.

Having finally gotten used to using my little hand-recorder, I am also hoping to have new tracks on more frequently, and will update y'all as I go.

Keep well and enjoy the sun...

(4th July 2009)

Hi.

So I am here to write my bio, and I could start with all the “born at…”, “studied under…”, went to….”, “moved to….”  …. But, and this is the truth, let’s say it together: you don’t really care. Right?

So here is what you need to know about me:

I have long curly hair that gets in the way of EVERYTHING, but which I wouldn’t cut for anything. I have big blue eyes and tend to talk too much, babble, in fact, I think is the term most often used…. By me, anyway.

I melt at the sound of an Irish accent and can usually be bought for a plate of spaghetti or a bowl of ice cream. I work in retail to pay the bills, and spend my free time reading, watching movies, looking at people and staring at walls…. And yes, most importantly, writing songs - and singing them to those willing to listen. And others, too.

I’ve always been surrounded by music and have been singing since I was 7-years-old, but my early career was purely classical. Went to a music academy high school, which might, perhaps, explain why when writing songs I often need to consciously avoid writing melodies that sounds like they were written by a Bach-wannabe with a concussion....  I studied with a wonderful voice teacher whom I shouldn’t name without her permission, and still have a tremendous passion for baroque music.

I got a guitar when I was 15, though never really learned to play it till I was 22... When I went to college I started singing jazz, folk and rock, and after graduating even started writing my own songs. Writing doesn’t come easy but gives me great pleasure, and I hope you’ll like the result as much as I liked the process.

So there! Lily in a nut-shell.
No, I wouldn’t actually fit in one, stop saying that.

Any questions? Do you absolutely have to know what I did last Wednesday or which song I sang in the shower this morning? Email me! :-D
